For Cannoli we worked on the explainer video to help quickly pitch the SaaS app on their homepage, we had to make it visually appealing since Cannoli is a Figma centric platform, mainly designed for designers and marketers.
Our process is simple, we have a quick call with our clients that focuses on them sharing as much about their product or service as possible, who their users are, which touchpoints the video will be on and share their branding. Sometimes clients already have a script and we go over it and share any questions or recommendations before starting to work on a style frame.
Creating a style frame is crucial to a smooth process while creating animated videos, it sets the style we are using for any visual elements, we can also explore typography sizing, colors, texture and more. We also can offer our clients at this explorative stage a wide variety of styles or nailing down one they already had in mind or that matches their branding very closely.
We try to explore as many visual possibilities at this stage, we take into account both creating a unique visual style that matches our clients' branding, their audience and sets them apart and keeps them in their customer's top of mind, while using styles that make can be animated in a pragmatic way to ensure costs are competitive and the deliverable is top notch.
Storyboarding
Once a style is chosen, we can start storyboarding the script, ensuring we sketch out the most important scenes so our clients have to imagine the least how a complex scene is going to be solved, or how a composition with a lot of elements will be solved in a harmonious manner.
We start with simple but clean outline sketches to offer a quick back and forth between clients and our creative team, with this we reduce changes once scenes are animated and take much more time and can balloon costs, once approved we add color and prepare the scenes for animating.
